Many of our sponsored students lack access to essential educational resources, such as books and a quiet place to study. The Reason 2 Smile Library was created to fill this gap, offering not just our students, but all community members, a space to learn, explore, and grow.

Established in 2024, our library is a testament to Umoja Foundation's unwavering commitment to providing educational opportunities to the wider community. We offer free access to a wealth of resources for everyone, regardless of age or background.
Why We Established This Library
Creating a Safe Space for Learning
We believe in keeping students engaged, especially during holidays and weekends, to prevent them from falling into risky behaviors. Our library is a refuge—a place where learners can discover new interests, hone their skills, and stay connected to their educational journey. We do not aim to limit free time or play but to offer a constructive alternative that enriches.
Fostering a Culture of Reading
Our library also serves the wider community, providing access to books and other materials that help individuals of all ages learn new skills and deepen their knowledge. For those without a conducive learning environment at home, our library offers a welcoming space where learning can flourish.

We strive to make our library as accessible as possible, with extended hours on weekdays and Saturdays, and special hours on Sundays to accommodate our community's needs.
Immediate Impact and Growth
Transforming Lives and Expanding Access
Since opening our doors in January 2024, Reason 2 Smile Library has welcomed thousands of eager learners. The overwhelming demand has led us to expand our facilities, growing from an initial capacity of 40 to now accommodating 120 people at a time. Despite these expansions, the need for more space and resources continues, as students travel from up to 10 kilometers away to benefit from our services.

Activities and Programs
Engaging the Community Through Learning
At Reason 2 Smile Library, we believe in more than just providing books—we foster a love for learning through various activities. Every Saturday, we organize reading competitions, art contests, and other engaging events designed to spark curiosity and improve literacy among school-going children.
These activities are organized on a rotational basis, ensuring everyone has a chance to participate. Schools and community groups interested in joining our programs are encouraged to contact Norbert for more details and planning.
