Our Impact

Collaborating with the community
has been instrumental to our success story

Our community transformation efforts focus on five programs,
each tailored to achieve sustainable outcomes.
Our success story has been the result of continued support from our partners,
supporters, and donors in Indiana and Kenya.
At Umoja, we celebrate their continued commitment to our cause.

Over 3,000 students have benefited from our tuition program

We have constructed over 165 houses in the decade and a half we’ve been in operation

Our school lunch program benefits over 5,000 students annually.

Our girl empowerment program GET UP has gave a voice to thousands of girls through advocacy efforts aimed at creating a more equal community for them.

We distribute sanitary supplies to over 1,500 girls yearly.

We have organized our guardian groups into a collective for community change by launching various projects aimed at empowering them.

As of 2024, we manage six projects in Kisumu aimed at
educating the orphaned and vulnerable children and uplifting the community.
We continue to collaborate with our local partners to
support children and address their developmental needs.
'For many widowed women in Kisumu West,
Umoja represents hope and has been key in creating a more equitable society.
Many children from disadvantaged backgrounds have benefited
from Umoja's education program.
Our children can get lunch at school, which has been a relief to us.
We hope that their stellar work continues for many years to come
and that they also help others like us.'
Mama Edwina, Guardian Official, Umoja Foundation
